About TTOD Officers
Contact Info
This page presents a brief synopsis of each officer's purpose in life, at least
within the realm of the Tall Texans! These people volunteer tremendous amounts
of their time and energy, without pay, to provide great social experiences for
the members of the club. Give them a kind word and some help whenever you can,
they appreciate it!
- President:
-
The club president wins the right to maintain order at the business meeting,
help facilitate club activities, receive club mail, appoint, and delegate. It's
a tough job, but somebody has to do it.
- Vice President:
-
There aren't many specific responsibilities tied to vice president other than
assisting the president in club affairs. But... if any officer
leaves his or her post for some reason, the vice president has the
responsibility to assume their duties until a replacement is found. If you're
the vice president and you quit, well, you have to fill in for yourself.
- Secretary:
-
The main role of the club secretary is to take the minutes of the business and
officers meetings.
- Treasurer:
-
Accounting, paying bills, reporting at the business meeting, and enlisting help
to make sure the club earns at least as much as it spends. In addition, the
treasurer gets to make sure we all pay our dues once a year.
- Publicity Chair:
-
This is the club PR person. They provide press releases for special events,
coordinate media appearances by club representatives, and keep us in the news.
They find advertisers for the newsletter and opportunities to make us known in
the community.
- Social Chair:
-
This position is responsible for setting up and publicizing the wide world of
TTOD events. This year the chair has two assistants to make sure it is an
active and fun year. The social chairperson is responsible for organizing the
entire club calendar (which has oodles
of events each month), finding places to hold events, finding hosts
for the events, and telling people how to get there.
- Membership Chair:
-
The membership chairperson makes the first contact with prospective members who
call the club hotline (972-622-TALL) or ask for information on the Website.
This person sends out complimentary newsletters, provides club information,
helps with membership requirements, and generally rolls out the first welcome
mat.
- Editor:
-
The role of editor is to design and produce the club newsletter, The Long Line.
The newsletter is published monthly to all club members and subscribers
(prospective members also get a few). TCI and other Tall Clubs around the
country are also on the mailing list for the newsletter. The newsletter
contains reports by the various officers, club news, the monthly events
calendar, maps to events, and various other words of wisdom from those
in-the-know.
- Telephone Chair:
-
This person has the responsibility of calling everybody in the club whenever we
need to get the word out about a big event. They also go to work when something
changes on the calendar, or sometimes just to say, "hi" and, "when are you
coming to another event?"
Appointed Positions
These positions are appointed by the President.
- Webmaster:
-
This esteemed position was created by Van Sederburg, when he established one of
the first club Websites in TCI. Due to the unique requirements of guts,
knowledge, and media expertise, it is unlikely that this will ever be an
elected office.
- S.W.A.T. Club Representative:
-
The SWAT Rep. is typically a member who attends many of the functions held by
other Tall Clubs in the southwestern United States (primarily Texas and
Oklahoma) and can represent the opinion of the Tall Texans at meetings. SWAT
stands for Southwest Area Tall clubs.
